GdS: All bar two Milan players are still in Italy – when Serie A could resume

By Oliver Fisher -

All AC Milan players have remained in the city apart from two forwards, a report claims, with an idea having arisen regarding the continuation of the season.

As Italy, Europe and the rest of the world continues to battle the COVID-19 outbreak, football has taken a back seat in everyday life with all action currently suspended.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes on Friday (via MilanLive), only Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leao have returned to their countries of origin (Sweden and Portugal respectively), as granted by the government decree.

The rest of their team-mates are in Milano ready to resume training, but when will that be? The idea of Lega Serie A is to try to resume the season around May 20th, but that of course depends on progress between now and that point.

After April 13 (the latest date of the restrictions communicated by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte), more will be known. It will also be necessary to see how the calendar shapes up once a date of resumption is in place.
