GdS: Battle ensues for €40m Sassuolo midfielder with Milan, Inter and Juventus keen

One of the names that is attracting the most interest ahead of the summer window is Davide Frattesi, with the three biggest clubs in Italy keen on signing him.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) write that Inter would like to make their advance after the Champions League final but it will be tough because of the competition and because the club cannot participate in auctions due to their financial situation.

On Tuesday at the presentation of the autobiography of Adriano Galliani at the Teatro Manzoni in Milan, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio met the CEO of Sassuolo Giovanni Carnevali and the affectionate greeting caused a stir.

“Was it a hug for Frattesi? Well, it would be an expensive hug,” hoked Ausilio. He is not wrong either, because Sassuolo hae set the starting asking price at €40m and that is the same figure that Juventus and Milan have been told to pay.

The Bianconeri want the Italian as part of a squad overhaul, while Milan knocked on the door as a potential alternative option to Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Roma are also monitoring things and have a 30% resale clause effectively reducing his price.

Brighton might come forward too given how much Roberto De Zerbi appreciates the 23-year-old, but from the first dialogues with Sassuolo and with Frattesi’s agent – Beppe Riso – it seems the player is keen on the idea of joining Inter.

Frattesi would play alongside Nicolò Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with the possible exit of Marcelo Brozovic to take into account too which could provide the liquidity needed to get closer to the asking price.
