GdS: Boulaye Dia in demand ahead of the summer – his price tag as Milan register interest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been named as one of the clubs interested in signing Boulaye Dia who is expected to join Salernitana permanently in the summer, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport write how Dia has scored 15 goals this season via virtually all methods: with his right and foot, with his head, from far and near at the end of a counter-attack and from a penalty kick.

In the summer, Salernitana signed him on loan from Villareal who in turn had paid out €12m in 2021 to sign him from Reims. The numbers speak for, as he scored 14 goals in 36 appearances in Ligue 1 and now he is at 15 in Serie A.

Villarreal didn’t consider him unsellable as the then-manager Unai Emery preferred other players, so it was better to put him on the market with the hope of selling him for a good fee.

Now, the feeling is that Salernitana will buy him permanently and then if a top club came calling, it would be difficult to refuse given that the forward will turn 27 this year. It should be mentioned, however, that his price tag is currently around €20m.

Frederic Guerra, his agent, revealed that Napoli has been monitoring him for a while. Meanwhile, Milan are also interested as the Senegal international could carve out a ‘Rebic-like’ role for him.

The temptation to return to play in European competitions is strong for Dia, but the Premier League is the Premier League and he could move to England even if he were not guaranteed a starting spot.
