GdS: David, Guirassy or nobody – Milan evaluating January striker strategy

By Oliver Fisher -

In view of the January transfer window, the AC Milan management are very carefully evaluating various options to reinforce the attacking department.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports this morning that Milan are looking at various different options to understand if there is the possibility of making a signing for the centre-forward role.

However, much will depend on the performance of Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic in the coming weeks: if the two were to give positive signals to Stefano Pioli, as they did for example last night in Newcastle, then the club might think about investing the budget on the defence.

The paper adds that the first name on Milan’s list for the attack is still Jonathan David, but Lille are asking for €40m. That is why Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart – who has a €17m release clause in his contract – is gaining momentum.

Akor Adams has also been mentioned often, but Montpellier do not seem willing to sell him in January.

  1. Forget the striker, we need midfield. A holding midfielder, so Reijnders and ones who are a bit creative can play their natural game. This team is incapable of providing any service to our frontman. We can have Haaland for all I know, he’d suffer for lack of support.

    1. True, Jovic is back to form. Giroud still got it and we also have Okafor or Pulisic who can play there.
      Our Midfield currently-
      1. RLC- Injury prone
      2. Reijnders- A constant 6 (average)
      3. Musah- young player with constant ups and downs
      4. Pobega- …..
      5. Krunic- out of plans
      6. Benny- Injury prone

      1. It is the real problem area for Milan, which is so annoying given we had a world class midfield, that’s a backward step.

Hopefully some of our primavera guys get a chance.
Eletu looks a real good prospect!
We do need to sign a DM for sure
Maybe Newcastle will let Tonali come home

      2. Musah ups and downs? When and where was the ups? I honestly cannot remember ever seeing any ups from him? Does provide ANYTHING in the attacking phase?

    2. This! Exactly this! Jovic seems to be decent enough until the summer but we need someone to create the chances NOW. Actually we needed that midfielder like 10 years ago but still… A creative midfielder is the most important signing we need. You could get Haaland to be the #9 but with the service he’d get… Terrible. Even the thought of it makes me cry.

      1. we have 3 creative midfielders. Dont need another. What we need to do is get them to create instead of whatever the f*ck pioli has them doing

  2. Given we are out of the CL and Jovic has found his feet, it may be wise to hold off until summer, when we will also have Colombo returning.

Also at CB do we really need to sign someone, again we are out of CL. Kjaer and Pellegrino will be back soon and Kalulu in February, plus we can give Simic playing time in Serie A and put him on the list for europa league.

Our biggest problem area is midfield, despite having lot’s of midfielders we have no DM, that would be my priority. Bring Amrabat back to Italy

    1. Yes indeed, it looked like we were desperate for a striker but Jovic deserves a run of games now he has found form, let the ember burn and see where we are in summer

  3. Lille will ask for much more than €40m for him to move mid-season, can easily see them getting 50% more than that from Tottenham or Chelsea’s desperation

    1. Spurs have the money, they will go for someone else like Santiago and Chelsea are focusing on Osimhen. Currently, I see no major interest apart from us.

  4. Bring Guirassy in before the scavengers start lurking around. Our forward players are off and on. Giroud needs a break, and we have the league, coppa italia, and europa league ahead. If Krunic is no longer first team player, they should allow him to leave, and get a replacement for that position. But, for me, no compromising on a very good striker.

  5. Jonathan David price tag is beyond ridiculous and Milan should not make the mistake to pay 40m for a striker in Ligue 1.

Get Beto on loan with an option to buy. He’s not getting much playing time at Everton and he knows Serie A.

We should also get Guirassy who has all the characteristics we need in a lone and his price tag is only 17m.

A striker like Sesko will not come cheaper than 35m which still ridiculous.

So Guirassy and Beto for January. Kiwior on loan with option to buy. Recall Gabbia since Kjaer obviously can’t stay fit.

For midfield sell Krunic and get Ricci from Torino or better Ruiz from PSG on loan with option to buy.
