GdS: Elliott furious with Boban’s words; whole management under scrutiny

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s owners Elliott Management have been left furious after Sunday’s 5-0 defeat to Atalanta, according to a report.

There was to be no early Christmas present for Stefano Pioli and the Rossoneri as they were comprehensively thrashed by La Dea, ending 2019 on a very bitter note.

As per Monday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), Zvonomir Boban’s words after the game on the upcoming market infuriated Elliott.

The Croatian said: “We will try to do our best compared to what we will be able to do and will allow us to do” – something which understandably caused anger inside the American fund.

Given that the summer transfer window saw heavy investment with very mixed results, the directors are now under pressure. Even CEO Ivan Gazidis is not without responsibility, the report claims.

Elliott have spent €160million to finance the markets, showing that they have made available important resources to strengthen the team, the problem is rather how these resources were spent. The paper concludes by adding that Milan are anything but united and compact club at the moment.
