GdS: Elliott’s three-year plan for Milan with Rangnick; not only the stadium

The construction of a new stadium is certainly important, but it isn’t the only objective that Elliott Management want to reach. In fact, it’s part of a much more complex project, which aims to revive AC Milan.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), the leaders of the American hedge fund will try to bring the Rossoneri back to the top. There is talk of a three-year plan, which Ralf Rangnick will be at the helm of.

From the increase in revenues – trying to exploit the appeal of Milan and its 400m fans worldwide – to the market, the ideas are clear. Already at the end of the 2020/21 season, the owners will be able to make a first assessment.

Elliott has a basic concept in mind: the core business is the team and the performances on the pitch. Everything starts from there, from a winning group (and constantly in the Champions League). This is the only way to be attractive to sponsors.

The guidelines have thus been drawn. As for the market, Milan will look for prospective players, with bearable salaries. This is why they have chosen Rangnick to be the leader, as he has a great track record with young players.

Then there are the internal issues, which will have to be dealt with. From Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the renewal of Gigio Donnarumma and Alessio Romagnoli. CEO Ivan Gazidis will have a bit of work to do.
