GdS: Florenzi suffers ligament and meniscal damage – his season could be over

Alessandro Florenzi had a scan on his knee injury yesterday and the result is not what was hoped for, with the risk now that he could miss the 2024-25 season.

In the 40th minute of the game against City, Florenzi went down in considerable pain and it quickly became apparent it was a knee injury that he had suffered, which obviously arouses fears that it would be a serious issue.

The club then confirmed to us that Florenzi underwent an MRI and specialist evaluation yesterday which highlighted ligament and meniscal damage, with the consequent need to undergo arthroscopic surgery which he will return to Italy for.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the ligament and meniscus damage is not good news and it means that Florenzi’s season is ‘over or almost over before it started’.

For Florenzi, it is yet another bad bit of injury luck: in September 2022 he was operated on in Finland after a serious injury to the proximal tendon of the biceps femoris of the left thigh.

Milan could change some of their transfer plans after the news. Emerson Royal has been a target for a long time and negotiations with Tottenham are well underway with a decisive acceleration expected this week.
