AC Milan’s full-back department is full of youth and potential, which is perhaps an obvious symbol for the project the club are aiming to carry out.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, the full-back department is in fact made up of all players under the age of 25. Davide Calabria and Fode Ballo-Touré are 24, Theo Hernandez is 23, Pierre Kalulu is 21 and Milos Kerkez is 17.
The average age of the Rossoneri’s full-backs is 22.7 years and that also includes Andrea Conti, but the former Atalanta man is destined to leave, meaning the group could get even younger especially if Diogo Dalot (22 years old) was to return to replace him.
If Dalot did come back he would bring down the average age of the department to 21.8 – a rather low number if we consider that Juventus are at 30.2 and Inter’s is 27.5 years.
Among the certainties are Calabria and Theo Hernandez, while Kalulu could find more playing time, and the newly-acquired Ballo-Toure has a chance to impress. The 17-year-old Kerkez also scored a brace in preseason on Saturday, and he could yet feature more in the first team plans.
