GdS: Ligue 1 midfielder opens up to potential Milan move – the details

By Euan Burns -

AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana has started to show serious interest in a potential move to AC Milan with a cut-price deal in the offing.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Milan believe that Fofana is the right sort of midfielder to offer more stability next season as he is defensively minded but will help to build attacks.

He is going to be out of contract with Monaco in the summer of 2025 and right now, the French club would like to receive €30m for his services. Given he will only have one year left on his deal by the summer transfer window, Milan think this could be cut down to about €20m with some negotiation.

The player is said to be interested in making the move but he may need to make a decision very soon. He is expected to be in the France squad for Euro 2024 and Didier Deschamps has asked his players to try and finalise any transfer confusion before the tournament in Germany begins.

Therefore, a decision on his future could come between the end of the season in May and the start of the Euros in mid-June, but that would require Milan to also act quickly to give him a decision to make.
