AC Milan are planning to spend a set amount on a new centre-forward this summer, according to a journalist, but that could change if they were to make a big sale.
Luca Bianchin, a journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport, spoke to MilanNews about Milan’s pursuit of a striker ahead of a summer window, confirming that they intend to sign a ‘young and strong No.9’.
He believes that ‘a cost of 40 million euros’ seems about right and he does not expect a player to arrive for €70m. Joshua Zirkzee is ‘certainly in the front row’, while Benjamin Sesko is ‘also very popular’.
For Zirkzee it is a simple pursuit, considering that Sesko is owned by the Red Bull group (RB Leipzig) and they are not easy to negotiate with. The Zirkzee situation also has complicated aspects, but the Dutchman is the priority.
Then, some things ‘depend on factors that we cannot control’. For example, if Milan sold Rafael Leao for his release clause they would have €170m to sign one more player or perhaps several different players.
“Maybe there are other profiles that we don’t know like Gyokeres, Gimenez or another who are rated very well. But talking about Zirkzee and Sesko as two great objectives is absolutely true,” Bianchin added.
Either one of them would be fine.
Zirkzee is the more ready to step right in from day one, especially if the coach comes with him.
Sesko potential is sky high but it will need to be developed.
Right now Sesko, who has a release clause set at 50 mil is probably the cheaper option, because Bologna wants Hojlund money for Zirkzee.
Bologna will never get that kind of money for Zirkzee. The guy got numerous chances at Bayern and failed while other young players managed to pay first team football there and wasn’t that great while on loans from Bayern. As far as we know he could be another Piatek who is more skilled. No one will pay more than mid 20 million for him.
Why did Atalanta get that kind of money for Hojlund? Please explain. Hojlund got 6 goals in 13 league games for Sturm Graz, 0 goals in 15 games for Copenhagen in the Danish league. To begin with Zirkzee will score more goals in Serie A than Hojlund did, and then also scored 15 goals in 32 games Belgium, which is a league comparable to Austria, and also scored 4 goals in 9 Bundesliga games for Bayern way back in 2019-20. So, yeah, if Atalanta got 75m for Hojlund, they can expect at least 60m for Zirkzee. Are either of them worth that kind of money? That’s a totally different question. And no, they are not, but that is football in 2024.
There’s no release clause for Šeško, his agent dismissed it.
Sesko is an absolute animal, I would take him in preference to Zirkzee (although both are great players).
We need to understand Giroud’s plan this summer.
1. He stays – we need on solid striker to add.
2. He leaves – we need two strikers plus Jovic.
3. We sell Leao to fund these then we need a winger also…

Both Leipzig and Slovenia NT play two forwards lineup. And on both teams Šeško performs. Milan play 4231 and would probably continue to do so should Motta arrive.

To me Acmilan must wake up and learn how to press opponents and score more goals so what I expect is this line up

Now we need Okafor mostly to play as attacking midfield because we need to start scoring goals and also be more dangerous in attack against our opponents now we still have Slavia Prague,intermilan, Atlanta, Juventus so Pioli should stick to that line up is the best so Pioli needs to improve benercer more and Loftus cheek on the dribbling ability and their set pieces so they can have similar way of moving the ball to disgrace opponents like Brahimi Diaz but after this season Acmilan should rush and sign Hiller ardan and Lazer sarmadzic for attacking midfield
