GdS: Milan absolutely convinced by Chelsea defender Tomori – intention is to sign him outright

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear to have made the decision to sign Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on a permanent basis no matter what, according to a report.

According La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan’s will is to exercise their option to buy for Tomori even if the figure agreed with Chelsea is very high (€28million), but the Rossoneri club do not want to miss out on a centre-back with such amazing qualities.

The 23-year-old is seen as a player with a lot of potential for growth – therefore a perfect profile for CEO Ivan Gazidis and the Elliott Management project. Not only that, but from an economic point of view it makes sense as players of his level have similar if not higher market valuations.

Milan will probably try to get a discount from Chelsea on the purchase price, but it is always difficult to deal with Marina Granovskaia as she is often unwilling to give discounts in these situations. Meanwhile, Chelsea could definitely find a place for Tomori if he came back given his performances.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will do everything possible to keep the Englishman for next season too.
