GdS: Milan accelerate pursuit of €40m man as ‘Operation Replace Tonali’ begins

AC Milan’s mission to replace Sandro Tonali can now begin as the midfielder is very close to securing a big-money move to Newcastle United.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes how Milan have always considered every player as being sellable for the right price, but they did not really expect anybody to meet their demands for Tonali.

In recent days they have prepared counter-moves, and one of them is Davide Frattesi who immediately became the first goal for the midfield.

Inter, Juventus and Roma have been negotiating with Sassuolo for some time, while Milan took information during the Maldini-Massara era and are now accelerating.

Sassuolo are asking for €35m – preferably with bonuses to get to €40m – and Milan can now pay it. Inter reached an agreement with the player but must sell Marcelo Brozovic to Saudi Arabia to finance the operation.

Juventus met Sassuolo yesterday reiterating that they are very interested and can insert Matias Soulé or Koni De Winter into the operation.

Roma are in the second row and have a percentage on future resale, but now Milan have the cash to pay the demands, meaning Frattesi’s own personal will will be decisive at this point.

  1. and how we will fill bennacer position while he’s injured? so far no news about bennacer replacement.. or will Pioli use the majestic Krunic all season for bennacer role?

  2. Waste of money for 40M esp considering he’s not a DM for double pivot or a ACM.

Get SMS for 40M or use that 40M to sign a striker
