GdS: Milan await response from Porto after sending new Taremi offer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have launched their latest bid for Mehdi Taremi this evening but it is below Porto’s asking price, according to a report.

According to the latest from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan’s new offer is slightly less than €15m while Porto, as has been said for some days now, are asking for at least €20m or even more in order to close the deal.

Three days before the end of the transfer market, the Milan management are hoping to get Stefano Pioli a new striker who can alternative with Olivier Giroud.

Porto’s response is awaited, but in the meantime they will announce a reinforcement on Wednesday, which is Ivan Jaime who is a forward for Famalicão.

He is not a Taremi-level striker, capable of scoring 80 goals in three years at the Stadio Dragao, but he is a playmaker/winger with an eye for goal and it cannot be ruled out that his arrival has some impact on the Iranian’s future.

  1. across 97 matches that Iván Jaime player has been fielded as a forward 6 times so i kinda question this the story 😀

    Central Midfield 36 2 1
    Left Winger 29 8 5
    Attacking Midfield 15 4 4
    Left Midfield 7 1 –
    Centre-Forward 6 1 –
    Right Winger 4 – –
    Right Midfield 1 – 1
    Centre-Back 1 – –

Regardless taremi propably could slot right into the squad and become a success with us but porto really have some high demands especially for a player with an expiring contract at the age of 31 and whom they bought for €4.73m 3 years ago.

    1. Porto already have 3 CF i think , thats why they are confident selling taremi without buying another CF. They buy taremi only 5m euro and get his best season for 3 years ( top score club for 3 season ) and now they will get 15m euro from 31 years taremi ( if they accept ACM bid ) . This is good business for porto and pure capital gain for porto

      1. sorry reccaman missed your comment so it wasnt my intention to be rude ignoring your post 🙂 i get that they have other forwards but the article kinda painted the picture that they would get jaime as his replacment which clearly would be an odd choice considering that he isnt a striker.
15 mil for taremi should be more than enough but at that price it should satisfy both parts involved,

      1. And they want 1 of them.
Besides if they want midfielder a foking DM would make sense. But a playmaker? Got 3 of those as well and a potential 4th

    1. What?

I think youre misunderstand about this man.

The one that will get Jaime is Porto. He will be some kind of reinforcement for them after selling Taremi, considering they still have 3 the forward in the club.

We only bid for Taremi here and not Ivan Jaime.

    2. i think you might be misunderstand it or maybe i am but it kinda states that porto want to replace taremi with that cm/left winger, not us and even claiming he is a forward

“Porto’s response is awaited, but in the meantime they will announce a reinforcement on Wednesday, which is Ivan Jaime who is a forward for Famalicão.

He is not a Taremi-level striker, capable of scoring 80 goals in three years at the Stadio Dragao, but he is a playmaker/winger with an eye for goal and it cannot be ruled out that his arrival has some impact on the Iranian’s future.”

  2. At this point we don’t have the luxury of messing around with a lower offer other than 20M. Offer the 20M and tell them take it or leave it. Unfortunately because we waited too late in the transfer window to address a huge concern we are now left with little choice and must now overpay. If we were so concerned over a huge fee we just should have taken Lukaku on loan for a year for 6M and buy a new striker in summer. But we didn’t want him and missed out on all the younger talent (Wahi, Openda, Balogun, etc…) so this is what we are left with and we now have to overpay so to speak. We cannot go into the season with Giroud and Columbo as our #9 and try to force a LW in Okafor out of position there. Get this done. I think we will all be pleased with this player if we get him.

    1. That’s literally what they are doing with Taremi. A 3 year deal to find a younger, long-term striker. Except Taremi is more feasible than Lukaku and hopefully not as disruptive in the locker room.

15mil plus bonuses is fair given the situation.

    2. Bruh Taremi is leaving for free next summer thats why they play this card… If Porto reject it than we still have Colombo… And they can get nothing from him next summer…

  3. It’s got to be some record that I now find myself having to defend Okafor who has only just signed for us…but will somebody please think of my man Okafor!

How’s he supposed to get playing time at a new club in a new league in a new country?

Actually there’s a precedent (lots in fact) but this is similar to when we signed BOTH Musacchio and Bonucci in 17/18 (which apparently has no similarities whatsoever to the current situation).

Had we signed one of those my guess is we’d have got more out of one of them but by signing BOTH we undermined both them and probably Romagnoli.

And I base that speculation on the fact that famously too many chefs in a kitchen overcook the steaks….

    1. Of course it goes without saying that footballers are not like chefs.

No it seems a key attribute to being an elite footballer is the ability to be dropped into any situation and just magically form a connection with other footballers.

This makes elite footballers more like D list celebrities who get dropped in the jungle somewhere. I suppose modern football has become an extension of reality TV…

      1. Lol… Again Maldinis Hair with his wise words… Dunno why this guy always hate when the management brought players who will add quality to this team…

    2. Okafor will still play as a winger. Colombo is the one being shipped out as a result of this signing. So I thought of Okafor, and don’t see the issue here.

Also, Giroud is 37 and needs to be rotated at some point.

Our entire Mercato this year is so remarkably different to 2017. Qualitatively wise by such a large margin. Every signing this summer had a specific point and purpose. So you couldn’t be any further from the truth.

Torino’s own coach said it well enough. We signed European level players. In 2017 we really did not.

      1. Okafor could be given the chance to play across the front three which would increase his playing time by 300%.

And you’re right in 17/18 we signed a player who won multiple Scudetti and this time we’ve signed players who have won nothing…..

Still I’d be happy if one of the signings turns into a Kessie!

        1. No. That isn’t why Milan signed him.

Lol you can’t be serious with that second paragraph. Your attitude is outrageous.

In 2017, we signed players like Conti, Kalinic and others who certainly won nothing. Individually what we signed now is way better than what we signed back then. This isn’t even up for discussion. Outrageous really.

          1. Also Higuain was on a clear decline in his career. I suppose you were happy when we signed Matri. And Bonucci was never a fit for this team.

          2. Am I serious in comparing a multiple Scudetti winner with players who I’ve never won league titles?

Ah Conti…,maybe we couldn’t have avoided his injuries but he joins a long list of players we broke.

But his injuries did mean that ONE youth player managed to become established in the first team. Calabria the ONE player that a multi-million euro youth system has produced. Take a bow everyone.

          3. PS It’s funny how players always seemed to have a decline when they joined Milan….

I think the main reason we struggled that season was Montella was not a league winning coach. Pioli is 1/3 current serie a coaches to have won the Scudetto which gives me hope.

          4. Okay man. I’m not going to sit here and argue with you. But what we signed now is far better than what we signed in 2017. It isn’t up for discussion.

But have fun screaming at the clouds.

          5. And Higuain retired shortly after he left us. He had many injury issues even before signing for us. His last season at Juve he scored only 11 goals in all competitions.

        2. Off the top of my head didn’t Pulisic and Loftus Cheek won CL and league titles at Chelsea…? I think you’re just making up things to moan about at this point.

          1. Champions league only no league titles.

            And Pulisic didn’t play.

Are you seriously saying that Bonucci in 17/18 was not at the same or higher level than some of the players we’ve signed?

I know, I know, he didn’t want to play for us blah blah. It’s almost as if the circumstances matter as to whether or not a player performs.

For the record, if I had any say I’d have probably signed both these players with one other (admittedly I’d not heard of Reijnders but he’s excellent).

Pure speculation of course but I think signing those 3 players only would’ve produced better results than signing the 9-10 players we signed.

Of course it’s worked so far in the first two games. The problem will be as Pioli begins rotating players who have barely played.

          2. We didn’t really sign a CB this summer besides from a prospect, so why are you bringing up Bonucci? You’re kidding yourself if you think the signings we did now are of lesser quality than 2017. Joking in a bad way. Look at the others. Rodriguez, Conti, Kalinic… come on man. You’re just complaining for the sake of it.

          3. Pulisic wasn’t actually in the Chelsea starting line up.

But you can’t on the one hand get super excited by Pulisic (who had far less to do with that Chelsea’s champions league run) and on the other hand write off a player like Krunic (who was a key part of Milan’s (that’s your team’s) champions league run.

I’m less of a contradiction because I like all players who play for my team including the myriad of new signings and the myriad of former players (except Hakan) (all in all it must be hundreds of current and former players currently active but hey I’ve got a lot of love to give).

          1. No he’s been too busy watching Milan games from 1995 on YouTube.

@MH – okay Pulisic “only” won the CL… but you said the new players haven’t won ANYTHING. Cheek’s won the league with Chelsea and the Europa and Chuk’s won the Europa with Villareal – but those goal posts just won’t stay still will they?

        3. You are a pesimist guy who will never satisfied, whatever Milan do in this mercato. Its never enough for you, maybe its your disapointment cause Milan fired Maldini, as your name “Maldini’ Heir”

          1. I’m an optimist because I’m optimistic the players already have rather than constantly looking to sign new players….

Are we not optimistic about Okafor?

Do we not want to give him the best chance to play to his potential?

Can a side play more than 11 players at once?

          2. @maldini hair cant you see that he is bought to replace Rebic he is to be Leao deputy that can play as ST if needed… Only you thinking he is to fill the ST spot since from the past season when your mighty Idol in the charge, Pioli is said to want a big strong striker as ST and you think Okafor is that person?

          3. Oh come on MH, you were constantly slamming the new signings and not even giving them a chance. You did this with Pulisic and so many others.

Why should we believe anything you say? Or take it seriously?

Also we have three competitions we need to take seriously. We need depth. It’s not complicated.

          4. Response to The Gamer

I was actually supportive of Pulisic but this isn’t about individual players. This is about a massive turnover of players at Milan and across football generally.

We’ve dismantled a league winning side in the space of 2 years.

Now to justify that (if it can ever be justified) we’d need to win the Scudetto and reach the semi-finals of the champions league (something those very same players achieved).

I said the other day that I’d accept 4th and knock out round. That was me being reasonable because I can’t on the one hand say the turnover creates these problems and on the other hand demand instant success, but from the directors’ perspective I do feel it’s not unreasonable to insist on the above KPIs.

But I want to be clear – they are KPIs for the directors not the players who are not responsible for all of these changes.

          5. We absolutely did NOT dismantle a winning side. The base is still here, including most of the starters. The fringe players left.

            You’re being dishonest.

No we’re doing better than last season. We nearly missed out on the Champions League because of a predictable midfield and problems last season.

So you’re saying we should have stuck with what we had last season and risk missing out?

Nope. We reinforced correctly and finally reinforced the right side with players that actually attack. Leao doesn’t have all the pressure placed on his shoulders anymore because Saelasmaekers constantly disappears during games.

You’re simply wrong. There is “no massive turnover” unless you’re talking about fringe players.

      2. No idea why people harp on about the Chinese era either – “We bought 10 players in 2017 and about the same this year so the two situations are obviously exactly the same”…

        1. Right, we have 8 of the same starters from last season, the core of the team is the same. We strengthened our weaknesses and Bennacer will be back this year.

          1. We’ve changed 16/23 players who won us the Scudetto just 2 years ago (and yes Maldini @ Co) are also to blame for that.

I’ve previously said my minimum expectations after all this change is 4th but I actually think it needs to be 1st to justify dismantling a title winning side.

          2. 16/23 players in the Scudetto WINNING squad have left.

We’ve replace 2/3 of the Scudetto WINNING squad in less than 2 years.

          3. @Maldinis Pubic from that 23 how much of them have a role in that race? We need to replace the deadwood thanks to your Maldini who wasting last season money to add more deadwood to the team instead of upgrading it with 1 or 2 players like you want

          4. Most of those that left were not starters and were mainly on the bench. The majority, besides from Diaz and Tonali, are still here. So that’s false.

          5. This is a response to Manadonese who I can’t seem to reply to.

Why can’t a player – especially a squad player – not play in more than one position?

Nicky Butt covered across the midfield four (including for Giggs and Beckham) in the Man Utd treble winning side.

Ambrosini used to cover across Gattuso, Pirlo and Seedorf.

Tomasson used to cover for Shevchenko and Inzaghi.

Iniesta used to cover across the attacking midfielders and wings.

Stones played CB, RB and DM.

Why does Milan need 2-3 players for every position?

          6. This is a response to Manadonese again….

How many of the squad who won the Scudetto played a part in a squad that won the Scudetto?

Unless people are seriously suggesting the Scudetto was won by 5 players, I’d say all of them to varying degrees.

Everyone’s favourite villain, Krunic, played 28 games that season, but apparently we just carried him those games.

Saelemaekers played 32 Serie A games but apparently is not “league winning material”.

No room even on the bench!

          7. Saelesmaekers wasn’t a key player and barely had any assists or goals. A key player is Leao and he’s very much still here. The majority of our starting line up is still here.

We reinforced the right side of the team which many demanded. And Calabria is still a mainstay as RB.

The majority of the starting line up is definitely still here. Fringe players are nor.

Anyways, You’re actually physically exhausting replying to… I think I’m getting a migraine.

          8. Every team has 2-3 players for each position and back in the day, even during 2006-07, we had that kind of depth too. Even in midfield. And especially in attack. Berlusconi always loved signing extra names in attack… we had players like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Beckham, etc… of varying degrees of effectiveness.

But look at the major teams in Europe. Real Madrid, Manchester City. Bayern, PSG… they all have layers of depth. Just a fact.

          9. Yup. It’s fairly straightforward you would think. According to MH though we can’t let ANY mediocre players go. Just can’t do it, dammit!

          10. @MaldiniHair 2 players you mention is Krunic he still there and Salaemakers? Winning material? Of course he is not… If he is nobody would agree and blame the management like we all do when they sold Tonali… He cant even beat Messias to be starter…

          11. @ Manadonese

How is Saelemaekers not “winning material” when we won with him playing 32 games???

Everyone here thinks their opinions and the opinions of some scouts and directors carries more weight than what actually happened in real life.

          12. @ TheGamer We have a bigger squad than Man City in 2023 and signed more players than Newcastle did with their Saudi money.

  4. I’m pretty confident we can get this one over the line seeing as the new management have been pretty shrewd operators so far. Teremi would take the mercato from an 8 to a 9.

    1. I appreciate that Furlani has hard lines he doesn’t cross. Fair evaluations: take it or leave it. Same with Taremi. Even 20mil to me is bonkers for a 31yo on his last year… Hope their scouting is on point on this guy.

      1. I could be wrong but I think Taremi will slot in perfectly – the exact kind of striker we need. And it’s also funny if we get him over Inter. Much funnier than getting Lukaku.

  5. If anyone is still equating to the players we signed now to what we did in 2017… I can’t take that person seriously.

And to even suggest Taremi is on the same level as Kalinic lmao. Just take a nap already.

  6. Trust the process, if we get Taremi and Colombo blows up this season we won’t need another pair for the next 3 seasons if Giroud retires, especially considering Noah can fill in in the center as well. You know guys I haven’t felt this safe about our team since Berlusconi. Forza Milan, let’s debate but let’s not be against eachother. I feel a second star coming and then we will be giving our club another 20m from our pockets so let’s embrace the process. Forza Milan Sempre, Forza Italia

    1. The chances of Milan or any team going more than a transfer window without signing a striker is pretty remote.

We’ve signed at least one new striker every season for at least 15 seasons!

      1. You’re absolutely one of the most negative and horrible people I’ve encountered on here.

Nothing you have said is even substantiated.

And you’re now complaining about us signing Taremi.

Also, the vast majority of the base that won the scudetto is still here. Their was one major retirement, but those that left were mainly fringe players.

I’m sorry to say this but you’re just dishonest. I can see why you live up to your notoriety on here. I have mainly lurked for while, but what people say about you is true.

        1. @TheGamer is that really you @Giancarlo????? LOLOLOLO

Hilarious. Different name but still the same attitude.😂😂

          God bless you

          1. You’re entitled to that view. I’ll just go back to lurking. There are many who go after Maldini’s Heir. I mean you could say Maldini’s Heir is Giancarlo… because he posts a lot too.

            Take care.

  7. “We dismantled the Scudetto winning side”

This is a plain and pure lie.

This guy can’t even name the players that left of the base. Very few left. We still have most of our base still here, most of the same starters as last season.

Fringe players leaving isn’t going to suddenly destroy our team. Unless this guy is concerned about Messias and Saelasmaekers leaving. All respect to Messias and his life story, but it was time to move on.

Is it really that horrible we reinforced the right side as many demanded for so many years? Not only did we get a starter, we are well covered there. Pulisic+Chukwueze.

Finally quality on the right side!

Is Maldini’s Heir always this tiring and negative?

I see a management that did the correct reinforcements. Not only that we didn’t really bring in panic signings. They did signings on their own terms for specific reasons.

    1. I lurked. I didn’t post here.

I’m not the only one fighting with this guy lol. I see why he left. I probably won’t post here much longer anyways.

Too tiring and I have a job and play video games (hence my name). FIFA 22 is a good game, but I’m waiting for Starfield.

Anyways, I guess this will be my last post here. Take care. 🙂 I don’t need to defend myself against suggestions.

      1. You’re not fooling anyone. Giancarlo is a dude addicted to sempre milan commentz.
So he disappeared and “the gamer” came on that was lurking?
Saying the same things that môron did in the same way, same frequency, shït even replying to himself…
        Yeah its obvious

        1. Ok bye.

I don’t need to defend myself against that. You’re free to believe that.

You like to insult too. Maybe you’re him? 🙂

          1. Or maybe you secretly like Giancarlo. I don’t know. I wouldn’t hold it against you.

Anyways you seem very angry and there is a lot of online therapy.

          2. That’s a bait of very low quality.
            Baiting is what giancarlo does.
You’re just showing yourself more little buddy

          3. Good luck. It’s not healthy to hate someone that much and then start to see them everywhere. It’s also not healthy to hate another’s viewpoint so much that you take it all personally.

This will seriously be my last post on here. Take care.

          4. It’s also a giancarlo trait to keep replying and trying to get “the last world”

I’m sure you’ll just make another “perosna” and try again.. addicted 2 much to your confrontations on here

      2. Honestly it’s pointless trying to debate Maldini’s Heir – like you said “confusing” listening to him whine about the good old days of football. I mean I miss classic sitcoms and second hand record shops but I don’t bang on about them every day.

  8. Nice gesture:

“Gianluigi Buffon, Andrej Ševčenko, Paolo Maldini, Luis Figo, Zvonimir Boban, Javier Zanetti, Eric Abidal, Predrag Mijatović, Vladimir Šmicer, Nemanja Vidić, David James, Giorgos Karagounis, Mario Mandzukic, Mikael Silvestre and Fabio Capello are just some of the many stars who have already confirmed to UEFA President Aleksandar Čeferin their participation in the charity match to help the victims of the recent floods in Slovenia.
The television signal will go to 27 countries in the world.”
On September 15 at 8:00 p.m., it took place in Ljubljana’s Stožice

  9. There’s no debating on here, just bunch of insults thrown around when someone expresses his opinion and it’s not their cup of tea.

I miss debates on the other blog.

    1. All people know here is clowning on Maldini whenever our new Management makes a good signing, hating on our new signings and, hating on our pillar players, comparing the existing management to that damn Chinese, spreading hate among fans who support the same damn club.

  10. Maldini would’ve been still negotiating and on deadline day he’d try to force Redbird to up the offer to 30m lmao

  11. He is actually the striker we need to press the opponent’s defenders because he has a good technique he helps the team to defend from the front side and he annoyed Juve and Inter very well. Take him. Forza Milan
