GdS: Milan could make a January move for €15m-rated Norwich defender

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan could wait until January to make a move for Norwich defender Andrew Omobamidele who may cost around €15m, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), Milan know that they need a new defender to bolster that area of the squad, but they may not do it straight away.

Norwich would like to receive around €15m for the Irish defender who was born in 2002, but they are certainly not the only club that has shown an interest in him.

Nottingham Forest, Nice, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have all been linked with a move for Omobamidele over the course of this summer.

The 21-year-old has made 52 appearances for Norwich since he arrived at the club, and he has also made six appearances for the Republic of Ireland.

Milan could decide to use Davide Bartesaghi as a backup defender for the new season.

  1. Our academy players should hold down this spot no need to go and spend money on that position in this window, Pioli isn’t making things easy for management.

  2. The problem is, im all friendlies we had so far Kjaer didn’t look ready at all to be back up – so right now we only have 3 Senior CB that is ready – Thiaw Tomori and Kalulu. And if Kalulu play RB that leave us with only Thiaw and Tomori.

So yes, imo we need a cheap, reliable CB back up, not a youth prospect.

  3. just sign maxime esteve way cheaaper and playing in first division in france unlike omobamideke in second division in england so nope SIGN MAXIME ESTEVE

  4. “Milan could decide to use Davide Bartesaghi as a backup defender for the new season.” That’s BS.
Bartesaghi imo is not ready both defensively and offensively. Everyone needs to remember how the team suffered anytime that Theo wasn’t on the pitch last year and Ballo Toure was nowhere near the same level despite being with the team for two years, and now we’re saying that Bartesaghi straight out of Primavera will fill those shoes ?

We cannot expect Theo to have another season with 50+ games, otherwise his performance will be lower when it’s really needed and injuries might be more frequent. Hence we need someone that is at least strong defensively and hope that the attack is able to score without Theo being on the pitch.
From what I saw in the friendlies, Bartesaghi is not at a Serie A level defensively. It’s possible that management is saying Bartesaghi is going to be the backup to avoid having other teams raise the price for their left-back. It’s obvious that we want a left back that is either Italian or U21. All teams know that so they’ll try to rip us off
