GdS: Milan chasing expensive new striker but ‘low-cost options’ remain – the targets

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are in the market for a new striker which could prove to be a very expensive endeavour, but there are some cheaper options available for the Rossoneri should they be needed.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the pricier options of Viktor Gyokeres and Joshua Zirkzee are where the attention lies right now as they are seen as safer bets when it comes to goal return.

They could cost anywhere between €60m and €100m, though, which may prove too much for Milan unless money is raised from player sales. The likes of Benjamin Sesko and Santiago Jimenez would cost €50-60m too.

Should they be too expensive or unattainable due to the interest of other clubs, there are two clear options that will cost much less.

Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy has got a €20m release clause and has been a target for Milan for a long time. He is 28 years old which is part of the cheaper price, but having scored 24 times so far this season, he is clearly in great form.

Another name that has been linked for a very long time is Lille’s Jonathan David. He is out of contract with the French side in 2025 and does not seem close to a renewal, therefore he could be signed for less than his market value as Lille are left with little choice.

    1. He had pretty decent stats last season as well, I think he’s worth a try if we can’t get Zirkzee or Šeško.

      1. No because even at 20 million he’s a waste of money. He won’t have any upside and we can’t sell him later. We’re off getting someone slightly younger…

  1. Yeah, I’d go for David than Guirassy.

That being said id prefer other option.

If Milan only have Jovic as second option striker, get one of Gyokeres, Zirkzee, or Gimenez.

But if we still have Giroud, or other main striker, then get Sesko.

Imo I won’t get Sesko as main striker. he is still too raw for that. He is talented, sure, but still too raw as main striker for us.

Maybe other option could be Scamacca or even Lucca…

      1. Could be a gamble, bc the duo Italian strikers are between high class or average striker, but should be better than Lazetic and Colombo combined

  2. There are too many moving pieces to the summer market to even try to make an educated guess…

    Coaching change and requests?
    Contract Extensions?
    Players Sold?
    Money added to the budget?
    Players brought in?

    1. Totally agree. There are so many unknowns at this point. Personally I will relax and just watch what unfolds in the summer. No point pondering all of this while the season is still unfolding.

  3. Guirassy is injury prone after rlc, pulisic, bennacer, Maignan we can’t afford another injury prone we are not hospital

  4. I’m sure “low cost option” will be what happens. It would be astounding if Milan were to spend 40+ Million on any player.
