A number of AC Milan players have rightly been picked out and given a lot of praise following last night’s 3-1 victory away against Real Madrid.
It would be fair to say Milan were underdogs going into the game against the current European champions. However, goals from Malick Thiaw, Alvaro Morata and Tijjani Reijnders inspired Paulo Fonseca’s side to a memorable and ultimately deserved win.
Our player ratings from the game last night dished out plenty of plaudits following what was a brilliant performance, one that Fonseca also deserved credit for given his tactical tweaks.
La Gazzetta dello Sport’s ratings
Meanwhile, La Gazzetta (seen below) have published theirs too this morning, starting with the team and the coach’s ratings which are both an 8 out of 10.
The best player on the field in the eyes of the paper was Rafael Leao who was also awarded with an 8, while the Milan player who perhaps struggled a bit more was Emerson Royal, who gave away a penalty and got a 6.
Tijjani Reijnders was the man who scored the killer goal and his grade of 8 shows just how crucial he was in the middle of the park.
Then we come to a sea of 7.5 scores: Mike Maignan, Malick Thaw, Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana and Alvaro Morata all played their part in the victory.
Theo Hernandez, Yunus Musah and Christian Pulisic each got a 7, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek got a 6.5 off the bench and Tammy Abraham half a point less than that.
Musah and Fofana should also have been 8’s as with Reijnders, they bossed MF and laid the foundation.
Pulisic a 7.5; RLC and Abraham, half a point less. We need to improve our bench..it’s thin
Musah forget his man during penalty situation and gave them 2v1 opportunity on emerson ,he had good match but things like that makes influence when they rate players ,
Emerson is clear flop as everyone except our menagement expected
emerson is trash dont get it why we bought him he was a 5.5
You are way to hard on Emerson after yesterdays performance. What did you think will happen? Pocketing Vinicius over 90 minutes? Look at Calabria when he got in. He was skinned more in 5 minutes than Emerson for the whole night.
Yes he is a liability but he was not bad yesterday, should also have had a assist for Leao.
Yes, well said. Emerson is a poor player, but he’s been signed to give competition to Calabria. He’s improving.
Agreed. Expectations are too high. Is he better than Calabria… maybe, by a bit. is he world class like Theo.. well of course not. Gotta see thing for what they are. People expected a signing to drastically improve the squad. Emerson has perhaps improved the squad a bit, it’s not the impact people expected. They wanted a Fofana, type of impact given how weak our RB has been.
emerson is getting better but his performance was the worst today and calabria did have a injury so he camed back rusty
Emerson just took the title of the worst player in team from calabria, nothing has changed,we didnt need to spend 15 mil for that, when calabria playes calabria is the weakest player in team, when emerson playes emerson is the weakest player in the team
yeah an the goal was compleaty emerson fault
