GdS: Milan satisfied after derby draw with Inter – they stay unbeaten and 7pts ahead

AC Milan were not able to get all three points against Inter in the Derby della Madonnina at San Siro but the 1-1 draw can still be classed as a positive result.

After Napoli’s draw against Verona earlier in the evening, a win in the derby would have meant the Rossoneri not only went 10 points above their city rivals Inter but also took sole possession of the top place in the Serie A standings.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes, it is a draw that still leaves Stefano Pioli and his squad satisfied as they remain unbeaten and fought back from an early deficit to secure a point, while they were also very close to winning the game at the end as Alexis Saelemaekers hit the post.

Pioli went on to praise his team after the game, especially looking back on the 3-0 suffered in the derby a few months ago: “It is logical that that match helped us improve, look at the difference in average age between us and Inter in the starting eleven. Now we play the games with more conviction. Inter are certainly among the strongest in the league, there are some difficulties, in some situations we were better and in others they were better.”

After the break, Milan will make the trip to face Fiorentina before they face Sassuolo, Genoa, Salernitana and Udinese, and then comes the head to head game against Napoli.
