GdS: Milan want €40m Chelsea forward to strengthen the attack – the obstacles to overcome

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are at work to try and secure a deal for Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech, a report claims, but there are some obstacles to overcome.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Ziyech is an attractive option to Milan for if Hakan Calhanoglu leaves, due to the fact that he can play either on the right wing or as a central attacking midfielder. While Ziyech is not lacking in tactical flexibility, a lot of flexibility will also be needed from Chelsea.

Firstly, the west London club will have to open up to a loan for the former Ajax star whom they paid €40m for, and would probably have to cover part of his salary as he currently earns €7m net per season, a figure which is well above the €4m net per season salary ceiling that Milan have set internally. It appears to be a situation worth following as the days and weeks pass.

  1. Guessing this is an alternate to the de Paul option, which seems to be off the table now. Seems to be the opposite of the young players Milan have been targeting, but as a potential short-term solution to the right-wing issues he could be an interesting option, if Chelsea are willing to cover half his salary. Seems unlikely though.
