GdS: Morata aiming to be ready to make Milan debut against Torino

Alvaro Morata is aiming to be fit enough so that he can make his AC Milan debut during the first game of the Serie A season against Torino.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the 2024 European Championship winner is keen to hit the ground running and does not want to be eased into proceedings.

Morata only recently joined up with his new team because he was given an extended holiday after going all the way at Euro 2024 in Germany.

He has been training at Milanello since Saturday and there is a genuine belief that he could start the game against Torino on Saturday. His experience means he needs less time to tactically bed in than other players might.

The club are impressed with his fitness, and he is expected to get some minutes in the final friendly of the summer against Monza on Tuesday night.

Providing he looks sharp in that match, Paulo Fonseca is expected to trust the Spaniard to lead the line on the opening day.

Milan are still in the market for another striker but the expectation is that Morata will start the bulk of the games for the Rossoneri in Fonseca’s first season in charge.
