GdS: Okafor also expected to miss Lecce game – the reason

AC Milan look likely to be thin on forward options for tonight’s game against Lecce as Noah Okafor is also expected to miss the game, according to a report.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Alvaro Morata is not the only forward who will miss tonight’s game against Lecce because – as Paulo Fonseca revealed yesterday – Noah Okafor will also be out of the game.

More specifically, the Swiss will be unavailable due to muscle fatigue, but he should be available for Tuesday’s Champions League away match against Bayer Leverkusen. It will certainly put more pressure on Tammy Abraham and even perhaps Luka Jovic to contribute off the bench.

With the latest two issues the list of unavailable players grows, given that it already included Marco Sportiello, Alessandro Florenzi, Ismael Bennacer and the captain Davide Calabria. The latter, like Okafor, should be back for next week’s European away match.

For Morata the issue is bursitis, which forced Fonseca to take him out of the starting line-up to avoid further complicating his condition, though it is not fully ruled out that he might play some minutes off the bench.

“He has been called up, we’ll wait until tomorrow to see how he is but right now what I can say is that he is in doubt. I don’t know if we can use him tomorrow. I don’t want to take risks and lose him for more time. Let’s see tomorrow,” Fonseca said in his pre-match press conference.

  1. Sucks for him, should have been a good opportunity to stake a claim – bit worrying about Morata being unavailable again too, especially with him having basically zero break since last summer.

Back to RLC at AM for Lecce then? I can’t see Jovic playing a good pressing game. Might be worth giving Musah a shot there too.

  2. yes, was thinkin about Musah as well. he can definitely press and run a lot up front. he is no risk there either with his dribbles and he dont need to shoot – if he wins a ball up high, he can just pass it to Tammy to finish.

    1. agreed with you on this. he his the best risk accessment giving he his yet to find a real position. he might turn out good but since the coach is not taking the gamble he must have shown some defect in training

  3. On a side note last season I believe we had 32 injuries if my memory serves me right but by the looks of it we will end up with 50+ injuries if the start of the season is a sign of how it will continue for the remaining 8 months.
