GdS: ‘Giant for Milan’ – Pavlovic seen as perfect profile as Moncada pushes

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are still without a new signing 12 days into the summer transfer window but they appear to be making ground on various fronts, including the pursuit of Strahinja Pavlovic.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), the priorities today are a striker and a defensive midfielder but the management also want a new central defender and potentially one who is starter-level.

Pavlovic has been added to the list of candidates and he is a concrete option, so much so that Geoffrey Moncada and his team are thinking of going for him regardless of whether there are any exits.

He is a left-footed central defender – a rare commodity missing from the current squad – as well as being young at 23 years of age but with notable experience in the Champions League with Red Bull Salzburg and in the World Cup and European Championship with Serbie, who he starts for.

The Milan management have already obtained the player’s approvla and did so after having established constact with his agent Zvonomir Vukic, a former Shakhtar Donetsk player. Despite being on the list of several clubs like Brentford, the Serb prefers Italy.

Previously, Napoli seemed to be ahead but after the purchases of Rafa Marin and Alessandro Buongiorno, the Azzurri no longer seem interested. Milan would double his salary from €700k net per year to around €1.5m.

Now they will have to come to an agreement with Salzburg who, for their part, will not ask for less than €20m. The defender is still young and has a contract with the Austrians until 2027, yet the Noah Okafor deal last summer shows relations are good.

      1. Considering calafiori is just a year younger and even less experienced and what his fee is. I stand by my og comment 🙃

  1. Could be a bargain for such profile, hope we can have a left footed CB finally in the team, it’s a big push for passing, we’ve all see Fik getting pushed and losing the ball because of his weak foot

  2. They only problem for him is that he is not proven in a big league. But if he proves him self in bigger league his value would sky rock, so now is the right time to get him for sure and take a bit of risk.

    1. He proved himself in the Champions league though, which is the only level that matters. That’s more than you can say about Calafiori and Buongiorno

  3. Just get him and all new signing fast as posibble. New player needs time to blend with the team. Especially new coach
