GdS: Pioli among the greats following successful run – Milan best in Europe post-lockdown

Since the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Juventus, which ended 0-0, Milan haven’t lost a game. Their current unbeaten run is at 21 games, with 17 wins and 4 draws in all competitions.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milanlive.it), this puts Stefano Pioli among other Milan managers that have also managed 20 or more consecutive games without a loss: Fabio Capello, Arrigo Sacchi, Nereo Rocco, Lajos Czeizler and Nils Liedholm.

The Rossoneri are at the top of Europe for what they have achieved post-lockdown, as no other side has done the same. Not even top clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Liverpool have had the same streak as Milan.

It’s true, of course, that the beginning of the season presented Milan with opponents that aren’t the toughest on paper. However, when the level has increased (Inter and Celtic), the victories have arrived anyway.

All the exams have been passed and the next one will be difficult again, as Roma will visit San Siro on Monday. Milan, though, have no intention of stopping and the goal is obviously to return to the Champions League.
