AC Milan’s need for a successful night against Borussia Dortmund has led to Stefano Pioli using Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a more attacking role than normal this evening, a report claims.
As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), Pioli is planning to use a 4-2-3-1 formation against the Bundesliga side at San Siro and that will see the former Chelsea midfielder play in an advanced role just behind Olivier Giroud.
Loftus-Cheek is a very versatile midfielder and he has been playing on the side of a three so far since joining Milan, but he has played as a No.10 before at Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
If he performs well in this role, it could help Milan a lot for the rest of the season as it gives Pioli some more tactical versatility.
If Milan come into a game in which they expect to have more of the ball, they can use the 4-2-3-1 formation and play on the front foot.
It’s a good role in Pioli’s system for a player of his characteristics. Kessie also performed in similar role. Problem is RLC will probably be out for next two games so that gives us 0 consistency. Hope he proves me wrong.
Makes sense for pioli to use Aldi and let Loft play a more advanced role since we are missing Leao, longs balls will be one of the solutions since this team lacks creativity.
I pray we win
