GdS: Probable Milan XI to face Man Utd – youthful line-up on the cards due to injuries

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli will send a wounded beast out onto the field at Old Trafford to take on Manchester United this evening, a report claims.

Pioli has named just a 19-man squad for the first leg of the tie against the Red Devils as an injury crisis has gripped the team again. Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer, Hakan Calhanoglu, Ante Rebic, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Mandzukic not available for the game, while Alessio Romagnoli also has a foot problem and won’t start.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports the Milan team that should take the field against United. Gianluigi Donnarumma will have a back four of Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori and Diogo Dalot in front of him.

The midfield pairing should be Franck Kessie and Soualiho Meite, as even though Sandro Tonali remained on the bench in Verona, it appears he will not be risked. Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Rade Krunic should act in the attacking trident behind centre-forward Rafael Leao.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Tomori, Kjaer, Dalot; Meite, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Krunic; Leao.
