GdS: Probable Milan XI to face Spezia – Tonali-Krunic in midfielder as Pioli considers changes

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is thinking of making a number of changes to his starting XI for Sunday’s game against Spezia.

Milan will be looking to make it three wins from three to start the 2020-21 Serie A season when they welcome Spezia to San Siro, but they are coming off the back of a win over Rio Ave in Portugal on Thursday, a game which went 120 minutes and included a 24-penalty shootout.

There is no Romagnoli, Musacchio, Duarte, Conti, Ibrahimovic or Rebic, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Pioli is considering some rotation anyway.

The defence would remain the same with Calabria on the right, Theo Hernandez on the opposite side and the centre-back pairing of Kjaer and Gabbia protecting Gianluigi Donnarumma.

In midfield the duo of Tonali and Krunic will be tried for the first time, with Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Leao behind Colombo from right to left. Pioli, therefore, relies on rotation to try and secure a third league win before the break.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia, Hernandez; Tonali, Krunic; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Colombo
