MN: Probable starting XIs for Benevento vs. Milan – only one selection doubt for Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will get their 2021 underway on Sunday when they make the trip south to face Benevento.

As MilanNews reports, it is a match that brings to mind very pleasant memories for Benevento as they took four points from Milan the last season in which they played them, and Pippo Inzaghi will be able to count on almost a full squad although Maggio and Caldirola are unlikely to be risked ahead of the crucial clashes against Cagliari and Crotone.

Stefano Pioli meanwhile will still have several important absences to deal with as there will be no Ibrahimovic, Gabbia, Bennacer and Saelemaekers due to injury, and Theo Hernandez is out due to disqualification, so Dalot will play in his place.

Kessie returns to the midfield after his ban and will be next to Tonali, while there is a doubt regarding the condition of Castillejo. If he doesn’t make it, one between Diaz and Hauge will play on the right. Leao will be the centre-forward with Rebic and Calhanoglu in support, and Simon Kjaer is also back.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Dalot; Tonali, Kessie; Castillejo, Calhanoglu, Rebic; Leao.

Probable Benevento XI (4-3-2-1): Montipò; Letizia, Glik, Tuia, Barba; Ionita, Schiattarella, Hetemaj; Caprari, Improta; Lapadula.
