GdS: Probable XIs for Bologna vs. Milan – Pioli to stick with 4-2-3-1 and give Leao a new role

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is ready to start Rafael Leao in a new position during today’s match against Bologna, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) takes a look at the probable XI that the Rossoneri will field, and it will be a 4-2-3-1 despite the lack of a playmaker.

Gianluigi Donnarumma will return to being in net after a suspension served in midweek with Fikayo Tomori alongside Alessio Romagnoli as the centre-backs, flanked by Davide Calabria on the right and Theo Hernandez on the left.

In midfield we will see Sandro Tonali as Franck Kessie’s partner, while the supporting trio behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be Alexis Saelemaekers, Rafael Leao as a playmaker and Ante Rebic. It could essentially become a 4-4-2.

Mihajlovic also uses a 4-2-3-1 for his Bologna side which will have Skorupski in goal, Tomiyasu-Soumaoro-Danilo-Dijks as the back four, with Schouten, Dominguez and Svanberg competing for the two midfield spots. Orsolini, Soriano and Sansone should act  behind Barrow, the favourite over Palacio.

Probable Bologna XI (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Tomiyasu, Danilo, Soumaoro, Dijks; Schouten, Svanberg (Dominguez); Orsolini, Soriano, Sansone (Vignato); Barrow (Palacio).

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Rafael Leao, Rebic; Ibrahimovic.
