GdS: Probable XIs for Genoa vs. Milan – four changes expected from Sassuolo loss

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is set to refer to what many would consider to be his ‘strongest’ available line-up for the game against Genoa tomorrow, a report claims.

Pioli will welcome Fikayo Tomori back into the squad but will be without Davide Calabria, Ante Rebic and Olivier Giroud. This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Mike Maignan should have a back four of Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez.

The midfield is likely to change again with the return of Sandro Tonali from minute one and the probable return of Franck Kessie. The right winger should be Alexis Saelemaekers again, with Rafael Leao on the left, and Brahim Diaz the playmaker behind striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Probable Genoa XI (3-5-2): Sirigu; Biraschi, Masiello, Vasquez; Sabelli, Sturaro, Badelj, Rovella, Cambiaso; Bianchi, Ekuban.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Kessie, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic.

  1. I am just tired of this player management by pioli, can’t we use messias at the RW.

Why saelmaekers all the time. The guy can’t shoot decently. Poor attacking record.

    I’m tired of this club

I won’t be surprised if we get spanked again by Genoa.

The Milan management top down is a joke. No January aquisitions planned as Per another article on this website.

    What a joke

    1. Messias at RW is being probed, he can get a starting spot soon I guess.. too bad Alexis can’t even get a goal contribution accidentally given all the talent he has and it has become overdue, I read Milan keeping tab on Zaniolo, good and bad, huge talent and two back2back acl, all the admirers have left the chat

  2. Looks like the current first XI and presumably the team that will be expected to face Liverpool next week. Hopefully should be stronger than last weekend.

  3. Can pioli try Diaz on the left and messais on the right.Tonali playing the CAM with a double pivot of Kessie and Bennacer?
Who can please reach out to Pioli?

    1. I think right now the best line up milan could make is.
      Ibra
      leao diaz (not sure) messias
      kessie (for now) tonali
      theo tomor kjaer kalulu
      maignan

Theo plays alot solo he needs to understand how to pass. Kessie isnt the one he was. Leao and tonali are the only consistent. Saelamakers is trash and kalulu does the whole work of left flank. Messias looks cool and should be there. Btw milan should use kalulu in CL bcz calabria isnt that mature. Many blame ibra but dont understand that how can he perform with such poor service.Saelamakers is good as sub same for baka and same for florenzi. milan need to buy a better playermaker or make messias playermaker and if rebic comes give him right flank. IG u all would agree with me. Milan squad is no doubt too good and pioli is also good. but pioli needs to spot these things and stop thinking of sal and krunic.
