GdS: Renewals, meetings and the stadium – Cardinale’s busy Milan agenda

By Oliver Fisher -

RedBird Capital are very close to completing the purchase of AC Milan and Gerry Cardinale is expected in Milano to begin his work, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Cardinale already has a full schedule of commitments after the signing of documents. The first meeting will be with Paolo Maldini, to whom he will explain his project for the future of the club, with the main aim of the American fund to further develop Milan both on and off the pitch.

Maldini publicly asked for guarantees on investments a few days ago in order to help make that jump back to competing against the top European teams, while the meeting between the two could take place tomorrow or Thursday.

The renewal of Maldini and Ricky Massara’s contracts will also be discussed, and both will be part of the new Milan, while then there will be talks about the new stadium as Cardinale visited the site of the current San Siro and the proposed alternative area of Sesto San Giovanni.

As it was with Elliott Management, RedBird see it as a necessity to have a new stadium in order to reduce the gap with the top European clubs, thus unlocking access to new revenues.
