GdS: Romagnoli closing in on Lazio move after salary offer was raised

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli is closing in on a move to Lazio on a free transfer with his time at the Rossoneri drawing to an end.

Romagnoli joined Milan from Roma back in the summer of 2015 and has been a mainstay of the defence until the last season, where Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu became the first choice pairing.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that after the purchase of Marcos Antonio, Lazio are also ready to close the deal for Alessio Romagnoli. After the first offer of €2.5 net per season was rejected by the player and his entourage, the Biancocelesti decided to raise their bid.

Now, Lazio have met the player’s request of €3m per year and in the next few days, the definitive approval from Romagnoli should arrive as he will complete a move to his boyhood club after having spent seven years with the Rossoneri.

  1. Lol we won’t pay 3m to renew?… I’d pay 3.5-4m. Keep Romagnoli and stop this CB search madness. Such a waste of funds not renewing him.

    1. Maybe Romagnoli doesn’t want to stay even if offered the same money Lazio is offering.
At Lazio he’ll be a starter , at Milan he has been a back up the last year and a half. Not everything is about money

    2. Milan offered 3 million and Romagnoli wants more and the first choice.

And why would you pay 3.5-4 million for a backup while Tomori, Kalulu, and Kjaer who plays more than Romagnoli are paid less than him? That’s a waste of funds.

Botman or a new CB is a must. You think Romagnoli can handle Champions League striker? Look at him making blunder after blunder against Liverpool, Atletico, and Porto. Heck, Mancini doesn’t even call him for Italy national team.
