GdS: Romagnoli heading towards the bench again – his Milan future has never been so uncertain

By Oliver Fisher -

The future of captain Alessio Romagnoli has never been so uncertain as it is now, according to a report.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes (via MilanNews), Romagnoli was back in the squad against Genoa on Sunday after a muscle injury that kept him out for about a month. However, as happened at the weekend, Romagnoli will also start tonight’s game against Sassuolo from the bench as Stefano Pioli will field the Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori.

Pioli actually discussed Romagnoli’s current moment during yesterday’s pre-match press conference, stating: “Alessio had a very normal decline in performance after giving so much, he’s not one hundred percent but soon he will be.”

After Sassuolo, Milan will be busy again on Monday against Lazio, but even on that occasion Romagnoli could remain on the bench to watch Tomori and Kjaer. The Rossoneri captain has in fact lost his place after the explosion of Tomori, who now appears almost certain to be bought permanently.

The same cannot be said of Romagnoli’s renewal, which at the moment seems to have taken a back seat and his future in the Rossoneri therefore remains in the balance, meaning it has never been as uncertain as at this moment.
