AC Milan have not had as good a mercato as Juventus or Roma but still address some key issues with their business, a report claims.
Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) has rated the business of each top Serie A club after the close of the 2022 summer transfer market.
An 8 was given to Juventus and Roma, as the Bianconeri brought in players such as Leandro Paredes, Paul Pogba, Arkadiusz Milik, Filip Kostic and Ángel Di Mariá, plus of course Gleison Bremer to replace Matthijs De Ligt.
Roma’s big signing was obviously Paulo Dybala, while Georginio Wijnaldum and Nemanja Matic came in to address the gaps in midfield and Andrea Belotti is a very serviceable deputy to Tammy Abraham.
Milan got a 7.5, and the paper state that everything revolves around Charles De Ketelaere who was the Rossoneri’s big summer hit. Divock Origi, Malick Thiaw, Sergino Dest and Aster Vranckx joined, without forgetting the returns of Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adli, all with the policy of sustainability.
Napoli got a 7.5 despite their mass exodus, while Inter are slightly behind with a 7.
With all due respect its bonkers to put adli and pobega into this equation when adli was bought last year and pobega was owned by us since 2013. Clearly both players can be of great value to our cause but they are not part of this mercato.
In the end if we look at money spend we have done some shrewd business but as we havent even bought dest and vranckx who potentially will have to be bought in next summers mercato then 7.5 is a bit too generous in my view.
I think they are assessing squad changes.
Well the article is about italian clubs summer markets and even rating them so it doesnt make sense mentioning those players.
As far as I am concerned, Ac Milan did the best business among any team in Europe, they made targeted, and precise buys of young players who could each give them 7 good seasons of performances , Juve and Inter and even Roma bought old players that can only give 2 to 3 good seasons atmost..
You’re delusional
I always love it when papers need to rank transfer business a day after it happens.
Surely the proof for this will be over the next 1-3 years…
How about nottingham forest FC which has made record signing of 23 players lmao
Milan rating 6 only
What u pay what you get. Erling Haaland age 22 already score 9 goal in 5 match. CDK score 0.
Thats simply not fair towards de ketelaere as he could have had 3-4 assists and a goal by now had he not been a bit unlucky and his team mates also hadnt squandered his passes.
You compare a striker with a playmaker and your comparison is not per 90 minutes stat.
Lol, if Milan paid what it would have taken for Haaland they’d be kicked out of UCL competition and completely unsustainable.
Man City’s wage bill is nearly 2.5x higher than Milan’s (78m v 190m) because their income supports that (even if a portion of that income is inflated sponsorship arranged by Abu Dhabi’s royal family).
I’m not even sure what your point is? I might as well say CdK has more assists than Manual Akanji has for Man City, therefore he’s a much better signing.
Why you said yourself “milan fans” if there is nothing sense of proud that you have for the club….?
Its stupid comparation if you compare CDK n Halaand. The position, price, teammate, the league. Its all defferent. I dont think Halaand can make double triple in a row if he plays in italy. Defense is art in serie A.
The most intense league in the world is the EPL, defense maybe art in the the Seria A, but the premier league tops the Seria A in everything, including defense, midfield and attack. If you doubt it,then explain why the premier league is 1 of all 5 top European leagues and the Seria A isn’t even second, it’s third 🥉
Juve surprisingly got top heavy. Yes they got players but many important pieces left (Zak, Dybala and De Ligt) not to mention depth. They’re very short at the back particularly centrally. I think Roma did good business until one of those players *coughs Dybala* gets injured
Comparing Haaland to CDK is state of the art doom & gloom nonsense b*u*l*l*s*h*i*t… as some of you have already pointed out, alltogether different positions, functions and even minutes played!
But anyway… all in all, looks like a good market to me, fully adjusted to the successful philosophy implemented by the board.
