According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes that Milan’s line-up for the game on Saturday in Bergamo against Atalanta risks being decidedly similar to the one fielded against Frosinone.
Olivier Giroud will return and play from the start in place of Luka Jovic, but the other hoped-for returns – Rafael Leao and Simon Kjaer above all – are pending. Leao will have a new MRI today to see how his injury is, while Kjaer also trained separately yesterday.
If the Dane feels better he will rejoin training with the rest of the squad during the week, but Saturday is just around the corner and it is certainly not easy to imagine he will start from the first minute after more than a month out.
He had an injury – not just a strain as per the first official diagnosis – and at 34 years old, with an anterior cruciate injury in his left knee on his CV, rushing the recovery time is prohibited.
So, it is likely that next to Fikayo Tomori will be Theo Hernandez, who was excellent against Frosinone. It is possible though that Jan-Carlo Simic could get the nod as the more natural central defender.
