GdS: Training resumes with 11 players available – the latest from Milanello as key duo recover

By Oliver Fisher -

Sunday marked the return to training for several AC Milan players, namely the ones not currently involved with their national teams.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Stefano Pioli was able to count on 11 players from the first team as activities resumed at Milanello. Sandro Tonali has rejoined the group, returning prematurely from his commitments with the Italy U21 team due to the three-match ban he got for his red card against Czech Republic.

In addition to Tonali, Antonio Donnarumma, Ciprian Tatarusanu, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Soualiho Meité, Samu Castillejo, Daniel Maldini, Ante Rebic, Rafael Leao and Mario Mandzukic were all present at the training ground.

There is good news in particular over the two Croatian forwards as Mario is close to a full recovery and Ante has disposed of his hip problem. If the Rossoneri were to win the appeal against his two-match ban therefore, Rebic would be available for Milan-Sampdoria, having already served one game against Fiorentina.

Defensive duo Davide Calabria and Alessio Romagnoli will be out of action for another 2-3 weeks as their personal recovery continues.
