Ismael Bennacer appears to be the only certainty regarding Milan’s midfield department for next season, according to a report.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) have highlighted in their Monday edition that the Algerian is today the only absolute concrete certainty in the face of what could be a midfield revolution this summer.
Samuel Castillejo appears safe also but cannot be 100% guaranteed a stay, while Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are on deals which expire in June.
Meanwhile Frank Kessie, Alexis Saelemekers, Lucas Paquetá, Rade Krunic and Hakan Calhanoglu are all also at risk of being sold if the right offer arrives.
Bennacer though is safe as he has carved out a leading role. He was the AFCON Player of the Tournament for 2019 and has formed a perfect partnership with Franck Kessie in the 4-2-3-1 that Stefano Pioli has preferred.
The Algerian was also the best of the season in key areas such as balls recovered, duels won and dribbling. Furthermore, his age and salary make Bennacer perfect in the eyes of Elliott Management Corporation.
In terms of potential departures attention must be paid in particular to Krunic who has disappeared from the scene after fracturing his foot. Then there is Paquetá, who could change scenery in some way, and the young Saelemaekers who will return to Anderlecht in the summer.
