JuveFC: €30m+ Genoa midfielder in demand – Milan, Juventus and Liverpool keen

Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup is in demand ahead of the summer transfer window and AC Milan are among the interested sides.

That is according to our colleagues at JuveFC, who begin a report by stating that Juventus ‘have initiated efforts’ to sign Frendrup, who they view as a ‘cornerstone for a long-term project’ at the club. They have scouted him for some time, and believe he combines energy with technical quality.

However, the list of admirers is long: Liverpool, Aston Villa and Brentford are the Premier League sides that are also keen on the midfielder. The recently-crowned champions in particular want a new midfielder, with Arne Slot liking Frendrup’s ‘energetic and combative’ style.

Meanwhile, there is already a Danish colony at Brentford and their head coach Thomas Frank is ‘convinced that Frendrup would make a significant impact at his club’. Tottenham are the other English side that are admirers.

Frendrup liked by Milan

Juve are not the only club that are keen in Serie A, though. Atalanta and Milan are also tracking Frendrup’s situation, and Genoa will only sell if they ‘receive attractive offers in the region of €30-35m’. The competition for Frendrup is likely to intensify as the transfer window approaches.

What risks setting Milan back in the race – as well as Juventus too – is the fact that there are so many question marks about the future. With no sporting director and a lot of doubt about the head coach role, it makes planning for 2025-26 a difficult prospect at present.

In a feature that we wrote back in March, Frendrup was a player that we identified as the potential missing piece in Milan’s midfield jigsaw, given that he ranks so highly in the league when it comes to defensive metrics, and could therefore provide some balance.

  1. The time for Frendrup was last summer, just like the time for Hjulman was two summers ago. We’re always a day late and a dollar short.

    1. I’m absolutely agree with you. Same vision here. We lost two fantastic players on reasonable price because we don’t act smart and on time. With Hjulmand and Fredrup even with the sell of Tonali , today we would have been a team without the big problems we have now and we would have been in the top three without any problems. We lack good decision when it’s the perfect time to do.

  2. Where is the SD? Zero discussions about players in and out until an SD is in the house. Moncada doing all the work for the SD befor he arrives?
