GdS: Giroud and Leao back in the XI and immediately return to being protagonists

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli was able to call upon key contributions from Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud against Dinamo Zagreb last night.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) write this morning how the Rossoneri were dragged by the two forwards who scored a goal each in the 4-0 rout of the Croatian side. The Portuguese and the Frenchman have scored 12 goals between them, perfectly split at six each.

Leao has been asked by many fans and pundits to carry his dominant Serie A form into the Champions League and he did that after a frustrating first half at the Stadion Maksimir. He scored a lovely goal after a dribble from his own half but he did not stop there and was also the protagonist of Ljubicic’s own-goal, which came after one of his usual burts down the left wing.

Meanwhile, Giroud was also a protagonist. After resting against Monza in the league, he netted against Dinamo and his goal came from a penalty just like in the reverse game at San Siro. He almost had a personal battle with Livakovic in the hosts’ goal, who prevented him getting two or even more.
