GdS: Giroud to work overtime as Pioli opts against rotation in pursuit of second place

It feels as though Stefano Pioli cannot do without Olivier Giroud at the moment and he will start again tonight in the home match against Salernitana, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning reports that in recent days it was thought the Rossoneri coach could rotate the team a bit after a hard fought draw against Spurs in midweek that took a lot out of the team mentally and physically.

However, it instead seems that he will make just one change to the team that took to the field in London and it is a forced one as Alexis Saelemaerkes will come in at right wing-back for Junior Messias who got injured against Tottenham and will be out for a month.

There will be no other changes including in attack where Giroud will once again lead the line. Although he has played a lot in recent weeks, Pioli will still rely on the French centre-forward with Ibrahimovic, Origi and Rebic all on the bench.

It is not a surprise that Zlatan is not ready to start yet given the nine-month break due to injury, but the other two are having a rather disappointing season and so Giroud will once again be forced to work overtime.
