Giroud missed out on the friendly against Lemine due to personal reasons but he was back from start last night. He needed just 36 minutes to find the back of the net twice and especially the first goal was lovely.
When celebrating it, he pointed to the Scudetto patch in the middle of the new Milan kit. Speaking to MilanTV afterwards (see video with subtitles below), Giroud spoke about the clash and also Yacine Adli.
On the brace…
“It’s always good to start with scoring. We did very well in the first half, and the youngsters finished off the work. I’m very happy, it’s always good to win the first game even if it’s a friendly.
On the Scudetto patch…
“I think the Scudetto looks really good on this red and black shirt. I wanted to send our fans a message, that we are really proud to be the champions.”
On pre-season preparations…
“We’re doing well at Milanello, we are working very hard, there are some heavy sessions. And this heat makes it difficult but we did well today and showed great team spirit, playing with great determination. Today we did what the coach asked of us. We’re almost ready, but not 100%.”
On Yacine Adli…
“I think it’s good to do all the things right and give Adli a warm welcome. He’s a good lad, he knows he has to learn a lot here, but I was really impressed with his skills. His pace and vision too, and he’s a good addition to the team. He needs to stay a bit calm sometimes (laughs).”
