Hellas Verona fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of a purposeful Milan side who were missing the likes of Ibrahimovic and Ante Rebic.

The host side failed to close the gap on 7th & 6th placed Lazio and Napoli respectively after goals from Rade Krunic and Diogo Dalot placed the match out of their reach.

Verona coach Ivan Juric spoke to the club’s official channels (via MilanNews) and gave his thoughts on the game.

When asked on how much credit Milan deserve for the final result, Juric said: “We must give credit to the opponents today. They did better than us, while not creating great chances. I enjoyed the last twenty-thirty minutes, in which the team did not give up and could reopen it.”

Verona’s tight schedule brought up the question of physiological fatigue, after having faced Benevento and Juventus in the space of five days before meeting Milan today.

However, the manager made it clear who deserved the victory at the Marcantonio Bentegodi.

“Surely when you are not at one hundred and fifty percent you find it hard to compete against these teams. But the boys gave everything, they did better. We also made many technical mistakes in the restarts, but great credit to the opponents,” he said.

Speaking of Verona’s great run in the season that has seen them constantly put up commendable performances, he said: “The guys are wonderful, in the end if you don’t have this spirit you risk going astray, instead we created opportunities until the end.”

Milan sit three points behind Inter at 56, who still have a game in hand as they face Atalanta at San Siro tomorrow.
