Tuttosport: Inter open talks with director in bid to beat Milan to Salzburg star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan risk missing out on Red Bull Salzburg forward Noah Okafor as their rivals Inter have begun talks over a deal, a report claims.

A number of different sources have linked Milan with a move for the 22-year-old Okafor, who the management saw first hand when he scored the first goal of the Champions League groups stages against Stefano Pioli’s side in the Austrian capital.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanLive) however, it is their city rivals Inter that have already begun contacts with Salzburg’s sporting director Mario Gomez to understand if there are the margins to concretely pursue a deal.

It is an attempt from the Nerazzurri management to try and get ahead of the competition, while the paper also remarks that the Swiss international might well be a better fit for Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system as a second striker, which is his current role for the Austrian champions.
