Cristian Chivu believes that the Scudetto race this season will go right down to the wire and will involve potentially more than two teams.
Milan’s dropped points in the last two games against Genoa and Fiorentina could have seen Inter escape as the league-leaders, given they had the chance to go five points clear if they had beaten Napoli following the Rossoneri’s 1-1 tie at the Franchi.
However, the team in top and the current champions played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu (a penalty, shockingly) but the home side ahead twice, but Scott McTominay equalised twice to secure a draw for the Neapolitans.
Chivu spoke to DAZN after Inter’s draw against Napoli at San Siro last night, assessing both the match and what it means for the title race moving forward. MilanNews relayed what he had to say.
“Talking about the match, [it was] two strong teams who did everything to win. There’s disappointment for having taken the lead twice, but it’s not easy against a strong team. Credit must be given to our opponents, who did everything to equalise and then also to win.
“I take home the attitude and the desire to always go forward, perhaps sometimes overdoing it. We tried in every way to stay in the game and create our own game, aware of the fact that there was an equally strong team in front of us.
“In the second half, in the first 20 minutes, they really put us in difficulty, but then we came out on top. Two strong teams, who have raised the level of Serie A. It’s disappointing not to have won a direct match, but we’ll try in every way to take home the title: it will be a point-by-point battle until the end.
“I think there are four or five teams [in the Scudetto race]. Us, Napoli, Bologna and Milan have a game in hand. It will be a fight to the finish.”

It will be a tight race until the end.
