Intermediary reveals that Milan were a potential buyer for Tottenham’s Udogie

An intermediary has revealed that AC Milan were in talks to sign Destiny Udogie from Udinese before his move to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Speaking during an interview with Tuttomercatoweb (via Radio Rossonera), Udogie’s agent, Stefano Antonelli explained that there were a number of potential destinations within Italy for Udogie before he joined Udinese, one of which was Milan.

“If there is a limit that Italian clubs still cannot overcome, it is the courage of investment. I invite anyone and I challenge anyone to tell me which Italian club did not want him. They all wanted him: at that stage, the only one who saw fit to accelerate was Gino Pozzo with Udinese. He took him for €2.8 million and sold him after ten months for €26 million. Now with what Udogie is doing he doesn’t have a definite price, but we spoke with Juventus, with Milan, with Inter… Everyone liked Destiny, everyone would have liked him but at that moment there was no momentum to define this operation. We don’t invest in Italians is a commonplace that also happened to Udogie,” Antonelli said.

Udogie has been a very good signing for Tottenham and has become the first-choice left-back under Ange Postecoglou.

It is clear that he is still a raw talent, but his performances have led to his first involvement with the senior Italy team under Luciano Spalletti.

He is not going to be involved in the final two Euro 2024 qualification matches because he has picked up an injury that led to Spalletti leaving him out, although the injury was minor enough for some to speculate that it was a tactical decision.
