Inzaghi urges Ibrahimovic to stay at AC Milan and take the No.9 shirt

Since Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived in January, things have certainly changed at AC Milan, for the better of course. In fact, the Rossoneri haven’t lost a single game so far this year, which they partially thank the Swede for.

This week, the 38-year-old hasn’t trained a lot with his teammates, working on a personalized program to be in the best shape possible. As the Rossoneri have parted ways with Kris Piatek, Ibrahimovic will be an important focal point up front.

In an interview with Sky Italia (via MilanNews.it), speaking about Sunday’s derby clash at the San Siro, Milan legend Filippo Inzaghi shared his thoughts on the big Swede. The former No.9 urged him to take that number and remain at the club.

“The Milan No.9 shirt? Let’s dispel this taboo a little bit, because if the No.9 of Milan scores then I’m happy. It’s a shirt that, rightly so, hasn’t been retired.

“I hope that Ibra, if he stays, will take the No.9 because he has broad shoulders and will be able to wear it,” he stated.

The game is scheduled for 20:45 on Sunday evening and Inter are the designated home side. For both teams, it will be a very important game indeed, as they look to improve their respective position in the standings.
