AC Milan have been joined by Lazio in the race to sign Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis this summer, according to a report.

The Rossoneri are set to overhaul their midfield department in the upcoming transfer window and have been linked with the Portugal U21 starlet since January, when they almost got a deal over the line.

Nicolo Schira provided the latest update on Twitter last night, claiming Milan are persisting with their attempts to sign Florentino as he is the Rossoneri’s first choice for the midfield.

Gazidis working with Benfica on the basis of a two-year loan with the option to buy, while the Portuguese club ask for obligation instead – with the fee yet to be determined.

According to what is being reported by Radiosei (via MilanLive), Lazio sporting director Igli Tare wants to give Simone Inzaghi an important reinforcement in the midfield and Florentino is the man he has highlighted as a major target.

The €30m price does not convince Lazio, who are however willing to negotiate, but the sale of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could finance the deal with some change left over.

O Jogo (as cited by MilanLive) recently stated that a deal that could cost €30-40million with Real Madrid and Manchester United also keen.
