Journalist highlights potential ‘problem’ for Milan and why they may have to ‘make virtue of necessity’ this summer

By Oliver Fisher -

Journalist Franco Ordine has shed light on the problem that AC Milan could well face during the summer transfer window.

Although there are nine games to go until the end of the current campaign, the Milan management are beginning to plan for 2021-22 and what will hopefully mark a return to the Champions League should things go well in the final stretch.

There has already been a lot of talk in the media about which areas Milan should look to strengthen such as the right wing and center-forward positions, while interventions may be needed in areas where there are players with uncertain futures like Gianluigi Donnarumma, Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessio Romagnoli.

However, it may not be a straightforward task for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to add the pieces they want, as Franco Ordine revealed in his latest editorial for MilanNews during which he discussed the prospects of the upcoming window.

“The problem of the next Milan market is represented by the many loans (Caldara, Conti, Laxaalt) in circulation: if they were to be redeemed, then the technical area could act accordingly. Otherwise it will be necessary to make virtue of necessity,” he said.
