ESPN: Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona invite Milan to join USA-based preseason tournament

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could well be heading to the USA for preseason once again in the upcoming summer as they have been contacted about forming a tournament.

Through the invention of the International Champions Cup and other invitational tournaments before it, top clubs have been going USA to participate in high-level preseason preparations for some time now.

According to ESPN (via MilanLive), Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona – teams who seem to travel overseas every year – are in fact already at work to plan prestigious friendlies in America before the 2022-23 season.

The three clubs have also apparently contacted AC Milan to propose that the Rossoneri join as the fourth team in what would be presented as a preseason tournament. It has not yet been decided where exactly this competition will be played, but from the first news it is likely that it will take place on the west coast of America.

Obviously the interesting part is that all three of the clubs behind the idea are still heavily linked to the Super League and the prospect of it relaunching.
