Kalulu discusses his preferred role, the example of Ibrahimovic and targets for the season

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Pierre Kalulu has insisted that he doesn’t mind which position he plays in as long as he can play.

It has been ten huge days for Kalulu, who has basically exploded onto the scene between the 10th and 20th of December, a period in which he played four games and his first four for Milan.

The Frenchman had not made a single appearance for the Rossoneri before then and a loan in January seemed the best solution for everyone, but now he appears to be fourth spot in the hierarchy and above both Musacchio and Duarte.

The most amazing this is he did it as a centre-back and not as a full-back, his main role during the Lyon youth sector, and the breakthrough came in training as confessed by Pioli.

Kalulu spoke to SportMediaset about his rise to prominence and answered the all-important question about which role he prefers, though he was predictably diplomatic.

“Full-back or central for me it’s the same because in Lyon I covered both roles, in the U21s I played more to the right, so I can play almost anywhere. What do I prefer? It’s the same. What I prefer is to play,” he said (via MilanNews).

On Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “I saw and followed him throughout my adolescence, when he came to Paris, when he was in Manchester, even before here in Milan. Ibra is an absolute example.”

On his targets for the season: “I’d like it if we were to win something, but the coach always reminds us that it’s difficult to get there, you have to work every day to hope to win something this season.”
