Tuttosport: Kalulu-Tomori in force – Milan go a full month without conceding a goal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have gone through the month of March without conceding a goal and it is thanks to their fantastic new centre-back pairing, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) talks about how a replacement for Kjaer was expected to arrive in January after his season-ending injury, but the transfer window closed without a new central defender and the choice has proven to be a good one.

Under the watch of Pioli and with advice from Kjaer, Pierre Kalulu has become an excellent defender and his partnership with Fikayo Tomori has seen the team make a leap in quality. Milan closed the month of March without conceding a goal and while there is plenty of praise to go around for that, the new centre-back pairing were very much key.

In the four games in which Milan started the Anglo-French duo, opposing teams managed to shoot on goal only 7 times, with Maignan making a big save only on Luperto in the match at San Siro against Empoli. In short, there is now reliability, concentration, speed and physical strength that is bringing many benefits.

    1. Agree, with their speed Tomori and Kalulu covers each other against one of the fastest striker in Serie A, Osimhen.
