TMW: Kalulu’s value soars with Bayern Munich left to regret – he is a symbol of Milan’s vision

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are starting to reap the rewards of their decision to aggressively pursue Pierre Kalulu and convince him to try a new experience in Italy.

TMW recalls how Kalulu was the first summer signing that the Rossoneri made in the 2020 summer window and it was not a straightforward deal either, because Olympique Lyon offered him a contract and were ready to promise him a jump to the first team, while Bayern Munich also wanted him.

Kalulu was scouted by Geoffrey Moncada and was then convinced by Massara and Maldini and he has established himself as a valuable resource of the current side, as seen when he kept Victor Osimhen quiet in the recent win over Napoli alongside Fikayo Tomori.

Milan decided not to sign a defender in January partly because the right opportunity didn’t arise but also because Kalulu was there and that meant there was no desperation. The Rossoneri signed the France U21 international on a free transfer and he is now worth €15m, with a new deal and a pay rise ready as a reward.
